My first guess, if they were all healthy and in good condition when that happened would be something environmental. Over-heating, chilling, fumes from ??(teflon and some scents & sprays are supposed to be very lethal to birds in general).
If the cage was located where it gets direct sunlight during the day plus heat lamp can kill them if it overheats and they have no space to cool down inside the cage. If they were all dead in one corner or smushed up against one side, could be a sign they got overheated during the day.
