Sorry that you lost the peachick. If you lived in driving
distance of me I could sell you some. Am in Georgia.

Thanks, I am in AZ, and am not short peafowl....just feel bad as everyone here does when we loose one. I would like to come see how you candle your eggs someday though.

What on Earth is there about my candling that would be
worth a trip from your house to mine???????
Actually some of my candling was videotaped in my segment
on the rescue of a head between the legs malpositioned
peachick. The airspace will be a bit more to one side but
this is not a perfect indicator because ALL air spaces are
jusr a bit crooked. So that sometimes I open an egg that
did not need opened but since this is not fatal when done
with care I keep doing it when I see a suspicious air
space.

I just wanted to see what you see to tell if one was malpositioned. I have a homemade candler that shows pretty good the airspace, but I thought you could see the chick (assumption?) Thanks....

It is Superman that has the X-ray vision--NOT old D C T !!!
As I already mentioned the position of air space will
cause me to suspect head between the legs malpostion (but
NOT the other malpositions) Also if the head is between the
legs you will not hear the sound of the shell being pipped
or any peeping-though in one case a peachick managed to
make some weak sounds. There will be less motion, too and
that will be at the base of the neck as the chick struggles
in vain to pull head out from between the legs.
Anyhow I do err on the side of caution and sometimes end up
opening a normal eggshell over the airspace which does no
harm but does make more work for me....and, you are welcome.
