I have one pair of peafowl, a beautiful Purple Pied cock and a Purple hen that i got from Kenboy a few years ago, I need some more hens and wonder what colors would go well with my cock ? I hatched 27 chicks this year from my one hen she laid two clutch's this season and all but 4 hatched ! Rveryone says it was incredible to hatch that many and I'd like to get some different colors next year, Brian

Since Purple is sex linked any hen you put with that male will produce purple hens and the males will be blue and split to what ever color the hen is

I have one pair of peafowl , I keep them with my pigeons in a 10x10x6 chain link kennel with a tin roof attached , I also have a yearling male thats in a pen next to their pen so they can see each other and so the yearling is not lonely ! I place the eggs directly in the incubators as soon as they are laid which means I have a real scattered and spread out hatch which is ok with me ! I have two brinsea 40 model incubators that I set at 37.6c (will have to check to be sure about the temp)and they have four wells to place water in , I only fill two wells during incubation and all four for hatching ! thats all I do and I have had extremely great hatches, Brian

Hi Brian,
We still have a few purple pied white eye 05 hens. They are loud and would breed next year. You might also think about adding a blue or blackshoulder silver pied hen when setting up you breeding pen. Good luck, sid 214 707 2051, texaspeafowl.com -- Weatherford, Tx

I too would suggest you may want to add white (either from barred or black shoulder out of pied or if you can get them silver pied) and silver pied hens. Purple Black Shoulder hens have a nice color that I like to keep around.
