What is this? The Ken Burns Vietnam was sixteen hours long.
The notion that a one hour screening could give all the answers to veterans is unreal. However it is a better attempt to expose why we got there, why we spent time there and how we got out. Like the running girl picture Terry spoke of the back story is no Americans were closer than 20 miles to her, it was ARVN and VNAF and a Thai photographer who took the picture. The Burns document explains Pre involvement, Involvement and Post involvement. If you want just war footage that is pretty much covered 65-69. A few actions like ammo dumps and POL storages blowing up made the news in 69-72 but mostly it was protests. At CRB the only war I knew about was on base or in sit reps and Stars and Stripes. People may say the show went left at the end but that was the way America went. I was at the Travis Riots. What I came away from watching this documentary is don't trust the people who put us into war. Also many other issues that should keep us home but should be addressed elsewhere.
