January 10, 1969 Binh Thuy AB, it was the two deadly mortar attacks on that date at Binh Thuy Air Base, first at 0200 hours: we had received 62 Rounds and had 1 killed and 4 had been wounded then too later on that same night we were hit again with a second deadly attack at 2259 hours: we would receive 56 more rounds and there were 2 more killed and we had 5 more wounded. It was by far the worst two attacks we had since I had arrived at Binh Thuy Air Base and I still have nightmares to this very day about it, as I was caught out in the open area during the second mortar attack as I was walking back to my hootch from the main gate and I had no where to run to without getting myself killed so I just stayed in place and tried scooping out a shallow hole in the sand to crawl into so I could get as low as possible as the rounds were walking towards me from the barracks area. That was one hell of a night as anyone who was there could tell you. Terry Sasek BT 68-69 LM#687
