Subject: Security Forces Training

I believe a training manual should be written to set up a base level program for Senior Airmen to use to mentor the new arrivals and new troops. This kind of program would create more unit cohesion and give both the trainer and "trainee" a sense of belonging to a team they can trust. The program could include a checklist to accomplish and a guide so that T/Sgts & S/Sgts could check the effectiveness of the Senior Airman's training and the progress of new troops by interviewing them. As an example, the training books the BSA uses to promote younger scouts through their ranks could be a model of sorts. Their system involves active participation of all ranks. The original BSA training handbook was written by Lord Baden-Powell, a British Army officer. It was adapted and revised by an American, Ernest Thompson Seton. The SF program could be broad in some respects to the Air Force mission and specific in respect to the mission of the base a SF troop is assigned.
