Subject: The New Guardmount is here!

The New Guardmount is here! Hi, I am Mike Kennedy, the new Guardmount Editor. Steve Gattis has been properly relieved of his duties, but is just an email or phone call away as a valuable partner and resource.

I served with the 3rd SPS at Bien Hoa AB, May 69-70. Except for a single day when President Nixon went to Vietnam, I spent my entire tour working nights on the east perimeter, Bunker Hill 10, SAT, but mostly running the area QRT and driving an APC. After my time in the Air Force, I went on to spend another 35+ years in law enforcement and retired in 2010. Beside VSPA, I am also involved in VVA where I am the VP of my local chapter and also a district director for the VVA California State Council.

Guardmount has been a great publication that has been overseen by some great people in the past. I have some ideas for some new features, which I hope will continue the VSPA tradition. I hope you enjoy. If you have comments or would like to contribute something to future issues, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Don Poss will post the new issue to the VSPA website soon. It is available now on the VSPA Facebook page.

Finally, a thank you to Steve for your dedication, leadership and service with Guardmount. You did a great job and have set a high standard for me to live up to.
