On April 30,2009 it will be 34 years since Charlie walked into the South.
On April 30,2009 it will be 2 years since I took a long sealed box of dog tags, helmet covers, etc to THE WALL in DC
that several members of the 432nd SPS and I exchanged in late 1975 before we became the last members of that base
to serve there.I never intended for the visit to trigger ptsd in my once normal life.During that 2 years I have endured the incompetent system trying to find just 1 vet or 1 way to prove stressors that took place during that time in Thailand.INCLUDING spending weeks at Camp Bullis with a few of the SPS BROTHERS who died on MAY 13,1975 during the MAYAQUEZ rescue.
Denied for any ptsd at all even though the system has all the records and evidence they need to prove the stressors.
AND NOW, as a country we have this desire to HONOR VIETNAM ERA VETS ? A decorated 3 tour of duty Iraq veteran and BROTHER IN ARMS to all of us...KILLED 3 INNOCENT people just a few clicks away from me did so in part BECAUSE we
are being denied and claims because we can't prove out stressors and the va reps here are incompetent.AND we need a vietnam era day ?
Sounds like a great idea. They served on CON-US bases in base housing with their loved ones, watched the tv news footage of the fall of Saigon, footage of the KNIFE 13 Jolly green crash site or saw pictures of the C5A babylift crash ?
While we continue to see ptsd vets killing themselves, becoming homeless and killing innocent others because ptsd triggered them into a combat mentality.PTSD was triggered in part because unless we are hard core NAM VETS and forced to prove stressors in order to get ANY HELP from the VA.Except for the handful of pills they are more than willing to give us in order to stop bothering them about paying any claims or admitting we have ptsd.
I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THAT NO ONE REALLY GIVES A SHIT ABOUT MY RANTS AND SPEAKING THE TRUTH ON HERE,,BUT IT KEEPS MY PTSD FROM PERHAPS AWAKENING IN A COMBAT MODE MENTALITY AND ENDING UP LIKE THE 3 TOUR OF DUTY BROTHER IN ARMS KID OVER THE HILL.BECAUSE HEY..reunions and VIETNAM
ERA VETS DAY ARE MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN ACTUALLY DOING ANYTHING TO HELP FIND A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM.

SOME ARE TO BLAME..ALL ARE RESPONSIBLE.
THE VA MEDICAL SYSTEM MIGHT BE GOOD AT HELPING SOME VETS BUT IT HAS A LOUD AND PROUD RECORD OF DENYING PTSD TO THOSE WHO SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PLAY THEIR GAMES.
LIKE ANYONE WOULD CARE TO EVEN READ THIS POST.

WELCOME HOME TO ALL AND ANYONE WHO WAS IN COUNRTY (THAILAND)ON APRIL 30 ,1975 AND MAY 13,1975.
