Having read the sad news of what happened at Ft Hood and the phsyco that was concelling returning veterans from the war, I can't help but feel sad that this indivual was in charge. It is not the fact that he has a Muslin name but the fact he was demoted from Walter Reed Medical Center and assigned to Ft Hood. Somewhere in his medical records he should have been noted as being unstable. On my return from two tours of duty at Phu Cat and placed on TDRL I had to see a civilian psyco doctor in my hometown of Springfield, Mo. God only knows what this non-veteran told the US Air Force about the shape I was in at that time. I realize the change we have gone thru from that time to now has improved but somewhere someone did not see the fact I was in Vietnam eight months out of High School ( my Sr trip) and what my mind went thru. I know he didn't give a sheet about me or my service to this country. But, this man had the power to tell the govt just how flocked up I was. Throught the years I have never denided the facts that I served this country honoribly and we great respect to the flag I fly outside my home even now. It was a great honor to be a member of Cobra and the Security Police. It is one thing in my life I will always honor. I thought 41 years since my time in Vietnam those changes have been made...but after I read the news and see the innocent fallen members of our armed forces that died in a free country and further read it was a member of the pysco team that did this I grow increasnly ready to take my old hide and return back to the woods. But, it is many years I have lived a life long forgotten by many that I just can not return to where I was back then. Someone has to manage the one's that are helping the Veterans adjust to life as it is now. We have come a long way in trying to accept what we did or did not do back then. I have grown older and wiser (I think) but still shake when I read the news of what and who did this to our troops. God Bless all that have served and those being retrained to return to a normal life. Good luck in your efforts ladies and gentlemen of the armed forces. Some of us still suffer and wonder just how good the psyco's i charge are. Many families are suffering now and many others need help. Thank you for the time I rambled on here. For I do care.
