Tragic Incident at Ft. Hood

(Just an OLD Investigators opinion)
Personally, I find it hard to believe that this incident could have occurred ,
due to all the red flags that had been raised in regard to the shooters background prior to the shooting!
If half of the information published about this guys history is trueallegedly; he publicly announced his displeasure with the US military policies in Iraq and Afghanistan . He posted his objections to the two wars on his website. He had be counseled in regard to his negative attitude . He had made several attempts to get out of the Army. His political opinions were well known among his working associates. He had been trying to get out of his deployment to Afghanistan. He was or is a devout Muslim!
My question begging to be answered here is; Where was the CID or the FBI? Or were they aware and did nothing? In any case, is seems like this incident could have and should been avoided due to the background information that appears to have been readily available to the investigative community.

How quickly we forget?
How many remember the case of Sgt. Hasen Akbar (Born Mark Fidel Kools) who on the 23rd of March 2003 at a base in Kuwait, Fragged two officers, Army Captain Christopher Seifert and Air Force Major George Stone and injured fourteen other soldiers. (He was a Muslim convert)
In my humble opinion, I think the Political Correctness policy needs to be terminated so this type of tragedy doesnt reoccur! We all know the old saying , If theres smoke.
