60 years ago this past April, I boarded a bus to Jackson, MS from my home in Greenville. MS. Arrived in Jackson at 230 PM, after an hour of processing a SGT come in the room and read a list of names which mine was on it, said we were going back home be back in 2 weeks, didn't have room for us.
This create another good bye for my wife and parents and myself to go through. I though many times during that 2 weeks That I would not go.
10 days later the recruiter call and said be ready next moening. He took me and 3 others to induction center in Jackson arrived at Lackland next morning around 3 am what a time to start processing.
I only spent 4weeks in basic due to meningitis broke out in sister flight,
I was assigned OJT to FE Warren AFB, WY. assigned to 809th Combat Suppoprt group Air Police. Security section. top side and camper duties at Missile sights in Nebraska, Co. and WY.
Thought I would stay there whole 4 years Oct 67 orders for Viuet Nam. WE left early Jan 68 AZR school early Feb, report to Phan Rand Mar 68, the Bienhoa late summer to finish assignment, then to Truax Field Wisconsin till Dec 68, early out due to turning Field over to air guard.
That was good duty there, cold but only worked about 2-3 days a week, worked rest of time at airport security, started to stay and remain with that CO. but w emoved back south and I had career in Route Sales which I retired from due to back problems.

I know you tired of me rambling, Have a good election day GO OUT AND VOTE.
