Hey Larry want to thank you for kicking off this post, a lot of fun looking back. Somebody mentioned Sam Brown gear and the loops on the Ike jacket, I forgot about that. We used coffee cans cut in half and taped for blousing rings. Someone mentioned walking around 52's in below freezing, wonder why most guys spent 4 yrs and hit the road, what an incentive to re-enlist.Only time I walked aircraft was of all places Nam. I was stationed in Maine and Duluth, MI right on the lake, talk about cold 35/40 below without chill factor, we were well prepared with good winter gear. Hell keeping vehicle's running, every where on base had plug in for the motors. You guys that played eskimo remember how different the jet engines sounded in that extreme cold. In Nam if I had flight line especially in monsoon weather, I'd put coffee in my canteen as hot as I could make it, put some rum in, take my ammo can to make a seat put the poncho on like a tent sip my rum and coffee while it poured like hell. Where else could you have so much fun, no complaints I made it home, too many didn't. Thanks guys for all the imput and letting us remember our youth once again. Bruce LM#174
