I was there early (65/66) and our assignments were a bit different than the SP Squadron assigned to the base we were assigned to at the time.We did nt have electronic alarms BUT, we did have sound monitors that we planted in various locations in our areas of responsibilities..and sometimes they did alert us...ofcourse we heard every frog cherp and every thing else that crawled or ran by. As an added present for the VC or NVA we had Claymore mines set up to cover the areas where the sound alarms were placed.
Did they work ?..well I guess so, as for me I never heard anything much..it all sounded like static to me but we did blow a few Claymores just in case.
