Along with the condemnation of the draft dodgers you should also include the politicians that sent us to war, the society that turned their backs on us when we came home. Jimmy Carter pardoned those who evaded the draft, Canada welcomed them, did not prosecute or even attempt to.
Main stream america also called us the vile and hurtful names you mentioned. How many parades did you see for our homecoming, the only ones who welcomed us were family members and sometimes even those were uncomfortable when we were around.
In three years the only job I could get was washing dishes for 50 cents an hour, once a prospective employer found out I had been in Viet Nam the job was suddenly filled. Try raising a wife and disabled child on $20 a week.
The Va had no use for us either.
Today american society trips over themselves to "SUPPORT THE TROOPS" because it makes them feel better about themselves trying to make up for abandoning our generation. All the flag waving of today will never hide the hypocrisy of yesterday.
I will never forgive or forget how this country, my country, treated me and countless others when we returned from doing what they sent us to do,
XIN LOI!
