Ron was one of those very special guys who stood in the background always ready to help.

When Kim Bayes lost her husband Mike to a heart attack in 2005, the VSPA collected donations to give both of her very young daughters savings bonds for college. In addition to the bonds, Ron Wheelock and Monk Pope managed a separate donation of several hundred dollars based upon donated pop tabs and who could guess the final total of donated tabs that Ron and Monk had collected. Over 11,000 tabs were collected through the mail and at the 2005 reunion. The result was several hundred additional dollars being raised by Ron and Monk.

It's good to know that Ron and Monk are together again. I can imagine the welcome that Monk and all of our brothers gave Ron when he reported for duty at the Gate.
