Good morning to the Online Reunion attendees. I joined the Air Force on 30 Sept 1966 and arrived at Lackland AFB for basic training on Oct 1. Following basic training received a Direct Duty Assignment to the 831st Air Police Squadron, later 831st SPS at George AFB in Victorville, CA. Although I often joked with people that I was "homesteading" because I had been at George AFB for almost two and half years, I received orders for Vietnam. After returning to Lackland for AZR, I reported to the 3rd SPS at Bien Hoa AB, RVN on 1 May 1969. I spent the year at Bien Hoa working nights in Charlie Area (East perimeter) including Bunker Hill 10. I was eligible for an early out upon returning from Vietnam, but extended my enlistment to get an assignment because I wanted to go back to George AFB. As usually happens the Air Force had different ideas and I spent my last six months with the 456th SPS at Beale AFB where I spent most of my time babysitting the SR-71 Blackbird. I was discharged in late Nov 1970 after 4 years, one month and 27 days in the Air Force.
