Bob, thanks for leading the online reunion again. It is always fun to join other members in sharing our memories.

Sadly, I fell behind in the discussion because I spent most of the day monitoring the latest insanity here in southern California following murder of two more brave police officers in Palm Springs and the wounding of a third.

Back to the reunion, I did take an R&R about eight months into my tour. Because I was married, I went to Hawaii to meet my wife for a week. It was interesting that although Bine Hoa AB was one of the main entry points for troops entering and leaving Vietnam, I actually had to take a bus ride from Bien Hoa, 15 miles down the road to Tan Son Nhut AB in Saigon to catch my R&R flight. I went the afternoon before my flight to make sure I would be there in time. As a perfect example of our motto "We take care of our own," one of the guys from the 377th SPS found me a bed in the squadron area where I sleep and arranged a wake up call for on the day of my flight. It saved me from sitting in the terminal all night. It gave me a great start to my R&R. I wish I remembered our 377th brother so I could thank him again for the hospitality. When I got to Hawaii, my wife and I split our time between two of the islands and had a great temporary reunion. Then it was back to the reality of Vietnam and Bien Hoa AB for the remainder of my tour.
