I enlisted in Aug 1968 and was sent to Amarillo, AFB, TX., for BMT. After BMT in early Oct., I was sent DDA to Hamilton AFB, San Rafeal, CA., 78th SPS (ADC) LE section. After 18 months I volunteered for Nam and was sent to Lackland AFB for 2-weeks of 'Out-of-Country' training, then in JAN 70, I headed to Tan Son Knut, AB for 1-week of 'In-Country' training with the 377th SPS prior to being sent to my assigned base with the 632nd SPS at Binh Thuy AB. In 16 DEC 70, I was sent to the 416th SPS at Griffiss AFB, Rome NY (SAC-Security). In 7 AUG 72 I completed my AD so I got out.

Then in MAY 82 (10-years later) a friend of mine suggested I join the DC Air National Guard, which I initially said no, but then decided to go back in. I spent 3-years with the 113th DCANG as LE Pass & ID, then I transferred to the 175 Maryland ANG. While with the MDANG, a did 6-years as a 1st Sgt and completed 29-years of total service, retiring as a Wing Command CMSgt in 2004.
