Your feelings and assessment of those past times in our lives,is very well presented in your write!
I agree and sympathize with you totally! There has not been a day or a night that the jungles of
Vietnam has not reoccurred in some shape or form in the past fifty or so year of my life.
I usually refer to these Nightmares as visits from Poe and his damn talking raven (The Poet Poe)
In my case, there was one particular incident that returns over and over, and each time triggers my anxieties.
I have never been so close to death before or since.

I have learned to live with the anxiety, but it has resulted in countless, sleepless night!
