Well, while approaching 80 yrs and having went thru my Aip Police training at Parks AFB, Calif I was issued the one piece fatigues that were very large and had to be altered.
Some in my Basic flight were issued the old Army brogan that had the rough surface. The Airmen had to sand the rough surface and melt polish to get the shine required.
1st duty assignment was Hahn AB, Germany and I froze my tail off the first year. Being from Calif I was not used to cold weather. After less than a year at Hahn, the Ftr Wing moved to France and I went with the Wing. Over the years I have tried to locate some of the guys I was stationed with but was unable to find them even tho I knew their hometown. Bud Owens, Binh-Thuy, 66/67.
