I served our nation defending freedom, from Aug 1968 through Aug 1972. And, after a 10-year break, a friend of mine convinced me to reenlist with the Air National Guard. So, in April of 1983, I enlisted with the DC ANG as an E4, supervisor of the Pass & ID section. Three year later, in 1986, I transferred to the Maryland ANG. After 21 years of service in the MDANG, where I held several leadership positions such as, First Sergeant, Human Resource Adviser and Wing Command Chief, in May of 2004 I retired after 29 years of service, including a year tour in Vietnam with the 632nd Security Police Squadron in 1970, Binh Thuy AB, RVN, where I worked as a perimeter Tower Guard and a weapons technician in the armory.

There were many good friends and good times throughout my 29 years of service. However, one of my best tours (although I hated it then) was stationed at Griffiss AFB, in Rome NY. It was a SAC base with lots of B-52s and lot of cold windy nights. My second best was being a First Sergeant for 6-years. And, my third best was my tour in Vietnam with the 632nd Security Police Squadron in 1970, Binh Thuy AB. I think we all grow up in Nam and I am grateful for that.
