In reply to: Bob Mitchell LM301 's message, "Combat Veteran?" on Fri, Mar 17 2017, 10:30:05 PDT

That is a great question Bob. At least it has been rattling around my head ever since I learned that sailors that served on ships off shore during the Vietnam war were eligible for membership in the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. My guess is that attempting to narrowly define what constitutes "Combat" is fraught with many ways to demean someones service and so would always be defined in the most liberal way. No matter what your experience there are always others who will appear to have had vastly more hairy experiences than yourself. It took me many years to conclude I was indeed a combat veteran. My guess is that those who had the far more intense and frequent and horrific types of experiences would be the first to recognize that it is an impossible task to adequately define who qualifies.

Only you know what you experienced. Only you can give yourself the full throated recognition you deserve.
