I think you may have misread the responses to your original post. I followed the topic pretty closely and saw no derogatory replies directed at you. There were some angry comments but none were directed at you. It can be a challenge to follow these forum "conversations" and it is probably always risky to read intended offense into any awkward remark. Steve Gattis gave a good assessment of the thread and he saw no untoward remarks directed at you.

But even had there been unkind remarks directed at you, and I don't believe there were, remember Hanlon's razor: "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity."

You are simply as fine a man as I have encountered in this group. I don't believe there is a single member that has anything but the greatest respect for you and your service. Your story of courage is a great inspiration and the extraordinary kindness you have always demonstrated is a model of character that carries great leavening weight in its influence on the overall tenor of our group. Please do not deny us your badly needed leadership. You are greatly underestimating the vital contribution you make and your departure will be a an incalculable loss.
