Subject: R&R

Forty eight years ago today I left Binh Thuy for Saigon to leave for my R&R, I was going to go to Bangkok, Thailand but as I was processing in the R&R center a M/Sgt. called out the names of 10 Air Force airmen and told us to follow him to another room. When we got in there he asked us if any of us would consider changing our choice to go on R&R leave to Bangkok, Thailand, he said that we didn't have to change our choice and that if we didn't want to change our choice we could go back out and wait in the other room for our travel orders. Six of the ten airmen left, after they were gone he told us that we had made an excellent choice by remaining in that room because they had just reopened the option to go to Sydney, Australia for our R&R leave, I thought I had died and gone to heaven upon arriving over in Australia. Such a beautiful country, great and welcoming people, the friendliest I had ever met to that point in my life, and best of all beautiful round eyed women after all that time down in the Mekong Delta. Where did you guys go on your R&R's? Terry Sasek BT68-69 LM687
