Subject: Veteran's Day - Death of a Dear Friend and Brother

Hello to all.

Thank you for your service, both in and out of uniform, when service to our country was difficult and under circumstances when our society was not always kind enough to say thank you for the value that an able military affords us all. And for service to the VSPA, something that each of you has provided by being a member and talking to your brother Air Policemen, Security Policemen and Augmentees.

As we reflect on absent friends and sacrifices made in Vietnam and Thailand, and again after coming home with Agent Orange lurking within our bodies, take heart on this Veteran's Day in knowing that the Defenders of today know who we are. They know us as their ancestors, the men who paved the way for the weapons and tactics that they use today. They never hesitate to say THANK YOU and to give us credit for what we did 50 years ago.

Today, is also a very sad day as I have to report that Bill Paddock, Life Member #205, Nakhon Phanom 68-69, passed away at 1830 hours on November 9. For those of you who attended our reunions, Bill was our greeter, always standing outside the hotel lobby welcoming our members to the reunion with a handshake and his heartfelt, "WELCOME HOME". Bill also represented the VSPA when he presented a proclamation to the WAVING NURSE OF TAN SON NHUT with our deepest thanks for always waving to our Security Policemen and Augmentees as they broke Guardmount and left to be posted on the flight line, towers and perimeter at Tan Son Nhut Air Base.

More information will follow as soon as the family has had a chance to make arrangements for Bill. Please keep them in your prayers as they remember the most important Veteran in their lives on this Veteran's Day.

My best to you with thanks for taking care of our own.

Steve
