When I was young, we would have a family gathering on Christmas Eve and when we woke up on Christmas Day,
we would open our gifts from Santa Claus. Now-a-days, our family members are in three different states and it's getting harder to schedule to have everyone together. Since we're the retirees, we're the ones that travel to see the kids and grandkids.

One thing I started to do in 2010 was, that each of my kids and their wives and my wife and I would chip-in $75 per couple each Christmas and we would donate the $300 to or shop for a needy family in our community instead for buying each other gifts. This has become a 'tradition' that my kids have enjoyed each year and I hope they will continue it throughout their years. God bless you all.
