Author: the lorenzo poet
Subject: Vanishing

Sections of shelves vanishing overnight,
books of light being snuffed out.
New voices hidden behind classics,
and only the grateful dead survive.

Old, stuffy needing shots to raise their passion,
reading words you need a microscope to see.
The words in the air never being transcribed,
echoing in empty minds.

To fight this trend of saying the new isn't good,
we need to become translators.
Ancient tablet-bearing folks,
collecting the wisdom of our days.

When we die, our words will be left,
perhaps never to be read again.
How would you feel if poetry died, while you're alive,
never exposed to your next of kin?
