Subject: Would You Leave Such a Kiss to Destiny ?

So would you leave such a kiss to destiny?
I watch her yet again into story take flight,
this wonder of a woman sitting next to me
and I remember the day I looked over my shoulder
to find her smiling brilliantly.
Not in invitation, simply with such glee
the same way she is laughing now
as she paints her history.

Monkey bars are a piece of cake,
she explains to me so proudly.
When I was a little girl I learned
you could walk across the top so easily.
Its all in how you look at things
her wink teased, yet assured me
Happiness is still about what we make it,
so would you leave such a kiss to destiny?

And I began to understand
she wasn’t seeking soft my lips
in all the stories unfolded
she wasn’t after this,
she had drifted deeper,
to wear the soul in this man,
to find that warm silliness
behind the touch of every hand.
She wanted a friend to fall into
wearing only simple purity.
Every day she reminds me fate is for those
without a heart to believe
and I will always find your kiss
without the help of destiny.
