Subject: No Eggs

No Eggs

I cried like a bird
Who's nest was lost
To the shadow of
A cloud passing
Before the sun.

I don't lay eggs.

"Nothing," she said,
When there was really
Something.

She hardly says anything
To me.

She started to, once...
While untying and retying
Strings near her skin.

I remember that.
Her body is terribly slim,
Beautiful and exotic.

Then, I was sick a few days,
And suddenly she looked at me
Like I was a stupid bird.

Patchy clouds today,
Adapting,
Exhausted.
