Im sure those who where most happy where the rich as is always the case, althougth the little guy did have alot to be happy about maybe not those who wallowed in the work houses or those kids who swept chimneys but the idea that their country controlled the world and those people aside for others it brought cheaper goods etc etc etc They used to celebrate empire day and were openly proud to be british. today it seems people are proud of what britain had, and not so much today, large numbers are proud of their constituant country and not the union itself. Once the union in any shape falls apart, god forbid it wont happen for a long time then britain and that last bastion of "empire" will be gone.

as for curse or blessing its either or, some benefited some didnt, its like all things a curse for those slaves AT THE TIME but for black people now in the united states perhaps on the verge of the first black man to lead the free world, dare i say maybe a blessing?
