The new PM has proposed limiting the powers of the Prime Minister in favour of more power the MPs, but what difference would it make.
The UK is on a slow path toward a de centralised and more democratic society, already we have devolved powers and Scotland and Wales are starting to seek independence. so would a federal United Kingdom be a good solution to ease more power the devolved governments and create a more unified united kingdom?
Perhaps a system of regional representives, as one layer, in devolved England Scotland Wales and N.Ireland parliaments then 4 "state" leaders co-ordinating the country together under the Federal UK parliament with no real power, but to oversee the 4 seperate governments? Or would this federation lead to a confederation and to The break up of the UK?
If you ask me the UK is on the way out. but perhaps a federated system may prolong the inevitable for another 300 years? How far will Brown's reform go?
