Having never watched U-571, which from what I understand was a crapfest, I can not comment directly about it. So I have no idea if it claimed that the USN captured the 1st enigma machine or was the only navy to capture an enigma machine. A total of 15 naval enigma machines were captured from U-boats or ships during World War II by both the Royal Navy and the USN. I believe I read once that the move included an text that movie was a work of fiction and that the British captured the first naval enigma machine. From what I understand it was the Poles who initial broke the enigma code.

and in Pearl

I had the poor fortune to set through the Pearl Harbor and I don't recall seeing anything in the movie that could be taken by a reasonable person that Ben Affleck won the war, though the movie gave plenty to indicate that Affleck is a terrible actor. In the movie he joined a group that did exist and took part in the battle of Britain and get shot down and assumed dead. Hardly seem like a claim that he won the Battle of Britain. The movie has far more errors related to the attach on Pearl Harbor and the Doolittle raid.

t a Brit who kept escaping and in Saving Private
>Ryan that it was they who won D-Day on their own

This complaint is just stupid, Saving Private Ryan focuses on a single American unit on and in the area around a single landing zone, searching for a single American solider in that area. It was a story setting the Normandy Invasion but centered on one particular American unit. If you had a movie about a British unit on Gold or Sword beach would expect their to be any American characters?

and
>in A Bridge Too Far we only lost because we were

It has been a long time since I have seen this movie but I dont recall the loss of operation Market Garden being blamed on British drinking tea or the British solider being portrayed in a particularly bad light in the movie.

they are now claiming that the only

I have never heard anyone make that claim, not to say that some one might not have but if they did this is not a wide spread claim in the US.

FACT. America lost in Vietnam because we
>wouldnt help them.

British help during the Vietnam war probably would not have made that much of the difference. The Vietnam war was a lost because of a number of different reason and changing any one in particular would probably not have made much of difference. A big factor was poor intelligence, The US did not understand either North Vietnam or South Vietnam. In general the US and it allies misunderstood the entire political and social system in Vietnam and incorrectly saw it as a similar situation to the Korea war. You had an inconstant strategic and support from different sectors of the US government in some cases Presidents. Eventually failing support from the public.
