Assuming America didn't have any allies then the Empire would have trounced it. America was rated in the #16 spot in the world for military strength when it entered the world. Far below the Brits. The only reason the Americas were able to grow into a super power during WW2 was that their shores weren't being pounded by bombers so their industry was uniterrupted.
Remove that advantage and the British with an entry point through Canada and airbases in places like Bermuda would have had a victory in a couple of years. But since its an utterly theoretical situation along the lines of "what would have happened if, on a million to one chance, something came from mars and attacked us".
