Subject: 17th Lancers

Hi, As a kid way back in 1966 we lived in Secunderabad, India. The area we lived in was called 'Lancer Barracks' and behind our house was a long neglected British Graveyard with a memorial for the British solders and officers killed in the Crimean war. About a kilometre away was a small market place, still known as the Regimental bazar.A few yards from our house was a a small memorial set on a boulder in memory of a British Officer killed in a duel by his own brother in an argument over a lady both favoured. I know this sounds crazy but the spot where the memorial was installed was said to be haunted and people swear that they would hear sounds of duelling and screams on the anniversary of the duel!I recently read about the 17th Lancers being posted in Secunderabad for 5 years, before being redeployed to UK and was wondering if anybody could enlighten me more on their stay in India and the incident of the 2 duelling brothers.I doubt if the cemetery or the memorial still exist, a pity actually.Gautam
