I think you missed the point. yes IOW is English. That's THE point. Scotland would not get independence from England it would get it from Britain. England and Britain are not the same thing. Great Britain is Wales, Scotland and England as a whole. If Scotland was independent then Great Britain would be Wales and England. If Wales was then independent England alone would not be called Great Britain.
