it isnt inside the UK but the rest of the world see Great Britain and England as being synonymous. The Japanese word for the UK can either be Igiritsu (from the portuguese Inglez) Or Eikoku, which means english country. for the whole UK? so our identity is obsercured in the international community, right sure not an absolutly important reason for independence, but you know it is quite major, im sure the english wouldnt like it if scotland was used in the same way to mean the whole of the UK.

Well you know exactly, why would england want scotland as a chokehold? That also goes partly with the arguement the need for the UK is redundent. Scotland provides England with a wealth of natural resources, and you say yeah all english taxes goes on scotish benefit, then why in scotland do they pay higher council tax and are experiencing rural deprivation? Sure the parliament must answer for some of this mis management but the overiding government is westminister.

world role through westminister, exactly to the international community that dont know how the UK works because lets face it the way our country is divided is quite complex, will just see these achievements as english. Anyway the arguements i put before where reasons why Scotland shouldnt be independent weighing up the pros and cons.

but why? What if the scotish want to relate with the EU more? Scotland is a nation, and she doesnt deserve to be treated as a second wheel to England and by the sounds of it, you agree that Scotland is dependent of England, maybe so but thats just another good reason why we should become our on nation to prove it to ourselfs, and i didnt say we must join the EU or remain in it, we could parallel ourselfs with Norway, which we have historic links to aswell. and my arguement before was reasons perhaps for Scotland to remain in the UK anyway, as in what would she do? So i dont know why you responded to that?

Theres alot more countries in the EU that contribute so you cant just say yeah its just England, and we're not discussing whether Ireland did it willingly or not, they did it the UK split in 2, its happened it was an arguement to people who want to preserve a fully "United Kingdom"

>you are falling into the trap of divide and rule by
>the european empire which will have no respect for
>scottish law.

Perhaps the EU will impose corpus jurus, but they may do that being part of the UK aswell atleast we'll get a choice ourselfs rather then before hand when Heath brought us into it we didnt even have a devolved government to decide ourselves. Let us make our own mistakes, and i only suggested the EU as a route its not without its problems i didnt say scotland should 100% have to be a member of the EU, it was an option. Thats why i suggested do some research, look on the net and decided for yourself whether scotland should be independent.

Just for the record i ddint specify whether i was opposed or for scottish independence, the novelty would be good obviously, but i was weighing up what she would do, and what it would mean and whether its worth it. It is ofcourse impossible to tell unless she does it. But i still maintain that Edinburgh needs more powers that Westminister shouldnt be able to take away.
