The declaration of arbroath was sent to the pope by robert de bruce and the nobles, yes william wallace could be viewed as a terrorist but he had nothing to do with this declaration this explained to the church why the war was fought (to prevent the english from taking over scotland) and asserting scottish independence, which the pope did listen to and recognised as did the english a long time after. be it historic and unrelated to current political arguements for the common man, these historic events shape the cultural and distint identity of scotland, and is nostalgic to a time before the union, which was brought about in an unjust undemocratic way. The union shouldnt last, and if there is any hopes of preserving it perhaps the government should consider not repressing british culture trying to appease the new multicultural society we have attained.
