I think most of us who study History will agree that if the British Empire stayed Coherent for another 50-100 years the world would be in a much stabler condition.
Many of the colonies that went independant from the British Empire Lacked a significant number of Educated People to administer their country.
Back in those days most of the Administrators were White and well educated(aristocracy brings with it a solid base of educated and competent leaders). When Britain gave independence to the colonies the administrators, who were mainly British left as well.
Without Competent leadership in these colonies many of them fell apart. Warlords took over, civil wars errupted.
In the older Colonies like India and South Africa there was a good amount of educated, competent leaders. So these nations were able to at least be somewhat stable.
Another 50-100 years would have meant a few more generations adapting, growing up and learning how to run their country.
Having that many Stable Nations in the world would make it easier to Unite the world under the United Nations and we'd have a real space station around earth and a small colony on the moon and many expeditions to mars, venus, and jupiter.
America being the only superpower and the war in the middle east(for whatever reason the war was started) will eventually stabalize that region....somehow.
That profit dude, nostradomice. Predicted that there would be another world war around this time and it would be in the middle east. After about 27 years of conflict there will be a golden age...
Now this is just a prophecy but the war started in 2001 so in 2028 it will all be over and the earth will be in a golden age.
And If America fails to bring unity to the world don't worry, my money is on China

Anyway back to the question of could we bring the Empire back. I would say that 10-15 years ago it could have been done. There were still people around that remembered the days of the Empire and there were still enough young people with loyalties to the crown in Canada and Austrailia.
Now a days there isn't much support. There is a small chance that it could be done. Britain hasnt' joined the EU so if Canada, Britain, Australia got together and formed up the Empire with very strong Economic ties then it might work. India would either join intially with the Empire or join soon afterwards along with south africa and a bunch of other stable smaller former colonies. We would have a strong alliance with EU and USA. And useing the stable countries in Africa the Empire would be able to extends its influence to the troubled regions there and bring stability.
