Why should they be? That happened 231 years ago. Vast majority of Americans immigrated here years and centuries after the American Revolution mostly Irish, German, Italian, and Polish immigrants. They really got nothing to do with the U.K. anymore (apart from a "similar" language) the same way the English people got nothing to do with German, Danish, and Norwegian people in northern Germany and Scandinavia.
