Subject: Thomas J. Anderson ( of Abbeville, SC)'s father?

My cousins and I have hit a wall in establishing who our Thomas Anderson's father was. Our Thomas married Jane Kennedy in Abbeville, SC, prior to moving to AL.
Some of Thomas's nieces latched onto Thomas J. Anderson (who married Elizabeth Owen and Didama Winbush) in their lineage to access DAR. Our Thomas's birth year was changed in order to make the dates for the other Thomas work.
Our ancestor, according to family tales, fought in the Battle of Charlestown(Charleston)dying in 1780 and had 3 or 4 sons. His widow supposedly moved to the DC area, but the sons either stayed in SC or moved to TN and GA.
