Since this is the only Winfield Ray on the 1880 census, do you think this might be your great grandfather?
If so, his father Robert has passed away by 1880.
Winfield's son Lindon must be born after 1880 since he does not appear on the census.
Perhaps, if you can find the 1870 census, you could find the whole family!
Also, you could post messages on Genealogy.com and RootsWeb.com under the Ray name.
