Subject: Searching for John Howington married to Cynthia Hopwood

I am trying to find a birth, marriage date and date of death on John Howington. He may have been born in the late 1830's to 1840's. He married my gggrandmother, Cynthia Ann
Moore Hopwood (widowed at an early age with infant twin girls). Their marriage probably occurred around late 1864-1865. They had one son, Jeremiah, and two daughters, Cordelia and Laura. Cynthia died of cancer in 1929 at age 85 and had taken back the name of Hopwood. I wonder if she and John had divorced? I have searched several sites and cannot find him on a census or in marriage/birth or death records. I would appreciate any help.
