Subject: Susan Butcher

I am researching Susan Butcher? born ca. 1772 who married or cohabited with Jacques Louis Beaube ( Bobee, Baube, Beauby, other variants). They were living in Adams and Jefferson/franlin conty Ms. In early 1800's. Five
children were born of this union, Michel( married Obiedent Prescott) Sarah Elizabeth( maried Simeon Coffee) Luminda( married a Cook, then married a Seymore) Susan ( Married a Manley, then married Edward Antill) James, married Sarah Bradshaw, then Caroline Clanton). Some family members have Susan's maiden name as Butcher( don't know if this has been documented) and her race as indian.( This has not been documented) Several census list her as Mulatto and an 1830 census list her as free negro head of household. She has not been found after the 1850 Jefferson county Mississippi census which has her name as Bobee and her birthplace as MD.She is listed as head of household. On an 180 census, her son James Beaube, also lists her birthplace as MD.Some descendants say she is from Kentucky, though I don't believe this has been documented. I believe she was free black or was bought by Jacques Louis Beaube who later freed her. I would appreciate any information.
