Searching for A.G.Atkins

A.G.Atkins was born c 1812 in Ga. He was married to Amanda B.(born c 1822 in Indiana) before or by 1847, and they lived in Polk county, Ark. at least from 1849 to early 1854 when they showed up in Texas. A.G. served as a legislative member from Polk county from 1850-1852. The last I can find of A.G. is with his young family on the 1860 Fannin county, Texas census. Can not seem to get a handle on him after that time.
A.G. and Amandas children were James Atkins, Mary A. Atkins, and Wm. Robert Atkins. Mary and Wm. married and settled in Fannin county. Don't know about James for sure.
Its 'thought' that Amanda died c 1869 and is buried in Sandy Creek cemetery, but not proven yet. So far have found no cemetery inscription for A.G. and not knowing the parents or county of birth in Ga. its hard to backtrack.
A.G. served in the Civil War from Fannin County, but records are a bit sketchy. Is anyone out there researching this man, or perhaps any of his siblings or parents? I have information I can share about some of his descendants/relatives.
