Subject: Rose Custer Nelson

Looking for info on my Grandmother's biological family.She was adopted by Charles(aka Christopher)Nelson,his wife was Isabelle (Ingorburg).In the 1900 N.D. cencus she is listed as adopted daughter.Her birth date is 1888.The story we were told as children was that she was an illigetiment child of a Custer,the father left her with the Nelson family and went to fight in the Mandan Indian War in N.D. and never returned,the Nelson's continued to raise her.
Anyone have any info ??
