Subject: John Barber family born 1810 South Carolina , then to Mississippi, then Louisiana

I have hit a brick wall, I have been reseaching my Barber family starting with my great grandmother Carrie Elizabeth Barber her parents were James Monroe Barber and Ella Jane Rogers, James was born around 1865 in Louisiana his parents were Henry Barber born around 1831 in Mississippi and Elizabeth A Smith called {Betty} she was also born in Mississippi on her death record it said her father was John Smith and it did not list her mother for some reason. Henry Barbers parents were John Barber born 1810 in South Carolina and moved to Mississippi not sure when but he married Sarah Galloway born in Mississippi they marred in 1830 in Rankin Miss. I think that around 1860 Henry, Elizabeth and John Barber moved to Louisiana, I do know that Henry's son James Monroe Barber was born around 1867 in Louisiana they were berried in the Barber Cemetery in Hunter Louisiana.

We were always told growing up that James Monroe Barber, my great great grandfather was part Indian but I have not been able to prove or disprove this. I was told it was his father's side and a distant cousin was told that it was from the mothers side, I was thinking that the mother of Elizabeth Smith that was not listed on her death record could have been the Indian. I really need help with this. If any one has any info that they would like to share with me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Gail Nelson
