Glad we are at a point in the season where we can all root for SPC (and it's staff) but yet just talk basketball - few s'maac stuff now. With regard to our 3 point shooting, I found jajk's Conference stat interesting.

We do lead the Conference in 3 point shooting -very impressive! However, if we include all games we are shooting .343 vs our opponents .339. Conclusion, we obviously have two guys (Wesley/Nick) who can really shoot the 3 and one player (Costner) who is showing some potential i.e. not enough shots taken to really classify one way or another.

My point is that we cannot call ourselves a great 3 point shooting team (don't think jajk was implying that, he was just tweaking other teams posters who constantly put SPC down) and just use Conference statistics while excluding overall performance. Feel free to disagree but we only have three players that we can even debate as threats from the three.

Jenkins- an exceptional talent who can hit several in a row at any given moment. However, still would not consider him a great shooter, just a very, very good one. IMO Wesley is so much more of a player than just a 3 point shooter; I really enjoy the rest of his game.

Leon- don't want to revisit last year when I was practically all alone in telling and debating several posters how good Nick Leon was. However, I'll repeat one of my statements. Nick Leon is the best pure shooter on the team. Has a beautiful stroke as reflected for two years in his foul shooting statistics. The only problem I posted was that when he plays point he operates too far from the basket to take that "easy" three. Also wondered how he would perform against taller guards. We'll he answered that question by driving to the basket on anyone and everyone. Who said he was too slow? That said, I'd still rather watch Wesley shoot the 3's and Nick drive to the hole. Wesley needs to be our go-to guy.

Costner- last year both Jordan and the staff realized that he had shooting difficulties. Last Spring both he and Akheem took plenty hours of extra shooting practice. In Jordan's case it seems to have paid off. His confidence is growing and so are his percentages. Don't think he will ever be an automatic 3 point shooter but he has become a threat. Another valuable role player (or perhaps better) with Akheem because he can now play the #3 and #4.
