Re: Winning...in different ways. -- jajk, Tuesday, February 17, 12:27:40am [1]
SPC is streaking and sweeping ; three straight times now gals and guys go 2-0 . WOW
Gals made it look easy breaking Griffs' 11 game away winning streak . Frosh Judson with 14 boards . Tania is just great leading all these youngins ; great career for us . Ali with really good game . All the players with great efforts , particularly on the boards . But saving the best for last , frosh Sakara House is a player , may wind up among the best in our storied women's bb history . And best wishes to our very pretty and very pregnant coach .
The guys also made it look easy .Akeem was just outstanding with the points and with solid floor game and defense . Traore , Hall and Costner with lots of contributions . And Ryan's 14 boards , 4 blocks and just such a great part of our offensive flow . First team all-MAAC ? He belongs right there in the discussion .

I'll just add one thing . The box score makes it look we played away game . There is NO way we only had 8 assists in that game .

Agreed, I counted many more even though many of our timley passes resulted in foul line shots, not made baskets.

A lot to like -- Guns of Navarone, Tuesday, February 17, 09:13:50am [1]
1. Great game by Akeem Gooding. He was just too quick and too athletic for Marist, who had no one who could keep up.
2. Great defense on Ryan Schnieder. A mix of players took him on, especially Gooding, Ish and Kabongo (nice!). Even Nick did a nice job staying with him on the occasions where he was caught in a switch.
3. Wesley Jenkin's floating jumper moving across the paint. What a sweet shot. It will be deadly over the next two years.
4. My favorite play of the game: Ryan Bacon absolutely swatting Schenider in the last minute. In garbage time, Schneider drove the lane, looking for a "gimme" two to pad the statbook. Ryan stayed with him the whole way and rejected the ball out of bounds. That's 40-minute defense. No one gets easy buckets, not on our court. Never.

two thumbs up on the whole post , but I particularly liked # 4 . How lucky we are that the the staff recruited Ryan and that he chose SPC . and your last three sentences are so key to the big advantage that the home court can be in college bb . If we do that and the offensive improvements continue , we say to every team that their winning at Yanitelli ain't ever gonna be easy .
