Move the entire campus to the suburbs (easier said than done). A Jesuit college in suburban northern NJ would easily rival Georgetown, Fordham, USF and BC as an academic powerhouse and attract the local high school BBall stars. A nice campus (as in "verdant" college campus) is what SPC sorely lacks.

Actually a pretty good idea. Why don't the Jezzies approach the nuns at the College of St Elizabeth about merging? There is precedent: Detroit Mercy, Loyola Marymount, and maybe others.

Beautiful campus out there in Morris County.

And the President of CSE, Sister Rafferty is none other than Billy Rafferty's sister and a big BB fan. Taking it a step farther Tom MacMahon has been close friends with Bill dating back to TM's playing days. Perhaps instead of leading and putting his own money into our next Capital Campaign (Student Center), Tom, Bill and the good Sister can work out a deal for the merger.Fantasy, but I agree not a bad idea! Merry Christmas.

SPC is in Jersey City as a Jesuit institution for an inner city. There was a time when they could have bought the FDU campus at Madison but was squelched by the Jesuits. Remember they have a campus a Englewood Cliffs and it is a great location. Think about what you are asking. How many nice campuses are failures in D1. When was the last time Fairfield even came close to fielding a decent team. They even have the money and it is made available to them. SPC suffered through 13 years of an administration that wanted to kill NCAA D1 athletics at the school. Those days are over. There will be an upgrade but that does not insure success. Success will be dictated by the coaching staff that is in place. Dunne does not have the budget as yet to come close to succeed but he has shown decent promise. Miss direction comments about location and campuses do not demonstrate knowledge of what goes into making a good program. Any success will be the product of a slow recovery from the neglect of the last 13 years and hopefully a great coaching staff.

Of course you're right. Marquette, DePaul and St Johns are concrete campuses with loads of past and current success. Pepperdine has head-and-shoulders the prettiest campus in the world and hasn't had remarkably much hoops success.

Having said that, where would you rather drive: The skyway or Rte 81? How about CA 1 ?

The student center will go on. Quite a lot of money already poured into the planning. I would concur that the center would actually be better placed at a point of the Yanitelli down to Rankin. However it has been explained to me that the most of the dorms are centered closer to the current chosen site. In the end you would then lost that argument. All that said, there is some plan to clean up the Yanitelli and the decrepit parking lot. Lets hope not just talk.

Athletic field for soccer, baseball, and softball within easy walking distance of campus. Using public parks continues to be ridiculous.
