Subject: Statistical All-Maac

Over on the MAAC Board, a poster came up with a statistical formula (pts.rebounds,etc., etc) for determining the All-Maac players. While the assumptions and methodology are subject to question the results are interesting (and drawing some attention). The results show Ryan Bacon (first team) Wesley Jenkins (third team) and Nick Leon, one of five players just missing.

Sort of a fun exercise, but not drawing too much criticism. Guess our guys are beginning to be noticed. My opinion, first team, third team, honorable mention doesn't really make a difference, all three are upper tier MAAC players.

Statistics are for losers.WINNING is what counts

What was posted was a fun thing. However, statistics do count. That's why all coaches keep them. Shooting percentage, rebounding advantage/disadvantage, assist/turnover ratio etc. etc. will all point to why a team is winning or losing.

While I'm not a big statistical guy myself, it's silly to imply that they are not important. Ryan Bacon's play, which has led to our much improved performance, is reflected in his stats. Check his early season stats with the last several games and you will see why the team is playing better and winning. THINK, just don't post sound bites.
